Overview: Presentation and facilitation of discussion using a webinar education platform. Define relevant terms and concepts and discuss impact of burnout on clinical and personal practice and well-being. Explore current use of self-care and coping techniques and how they differ from resiliency. Explore and identify resiliency building skills to mitigate or lessen hospice social work burnout. Provide information and written resources for individual reference post activity.

Objectives:

At the end of this educational initiative, participants should be able to:

  1. Define burnout, resiliency, values
  2. Identify symptoms of burnout in various settings, professional and personal
  3. Identify impact of burnout in clinical and individual settings
  4. Develop resiliency and coping techniques based on personal values, skills and individually identified resources

Speakers:

Christi Lero, MSW, LCSW, CSW-G – Christi is a licensed clinical social worker who works in hospice & palliative care, psychotherapy specializing in grief, loss and traumatic bereavement, and research focusing on persons living with dementia, caregivers and grief and death. Christi currently works as a researcher at the University of Missouri, Columbia in Family and Community Medicine, and will begin the doctoral program at The Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in the fall 2022.

Stephanie Clark MSW, LCSW – Stephanie has a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Denver and currently works for Barnes Jewish Hospital as an inpatient palliative care social worker. In addition to palliative care, she has served pediatric and adult oncology populations. She also received training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) from University of Denver.

The cost for this webinar is free for members and $50 for nonmembers. Donations to MHPCA are gratefully appreciated.

Registrants will receive the Zoom link and call in information the week of the training.
Nurses and Social Worker CE’s $15.00 each participant.

Upon completion of this course each attendee will be required to complete an evaluation. Each participant will then receive a general certificate. Each attendee must complete the entire course to receive the certificate. Certificates will be distributed to attendees after returning the sign in sheet and evaluation to MHPCA.
