Robin Carnett, RN, BSN, CHPN, Senior Director of Professional Services, Heartland Hospice, St. Louis, MO
Robin began her nursing career in inpatient oncology/neurology, then made her transition to hospice 26 years ago.  She has past experience as a hospice case manager, clinical supervisor, and for the last 22 years has served as the Director of Professional Services for Heartland Hospice in St. Louis.  As of 2019, she now serves as the Senior Director of Professional Services for Heartland Hospice’s locations in St. Louis, Wentzville, and Washington.  Robin has provided telephone and on-site consultation for other Heartland Hospice directors and has traveled the country providing education to hospice directors, administrators, and marketing professionals.  She has been a certified nurse in hospice since 1998 and has been providing training for the CHPN exam since 2004.  Robin has also served on the board of the Missouri Hospice and Palliative Care Association for five terms and is a Past President of both MHPCA and GSLHO.

Objectives:

  • Learners will describe how to register for the test, the expectations for examinees, and the resources available for further study.
  • Learners will self-report an increase in knowledge regarding patterns of disease progression.
  • Learners will self-report an increasing in knowledge regarding pain management in the dying patient.
  • Learners will describe the various symptoms to be controlled in the dying patient and suggested methods for controlling them.
  • Learners will self-report an increase in knowledge regarding care of the actively dying patient and family.
  • Learners will express an increased knowledge base within an overview of hospice and palliative care.
  • Learners will describe appropriate interdisciplinary collaborative practice in hospice and palliative care settings.
  • Learners will self-report an increased knowledge base regarding psychiatric/psychological symptoms and diagnoses.
  • Learners will describe various ethical issues in end-of-life care.
  • Learners will describe care of the family in end-of-life care.
  • Learners will self-report an increase in knowledge regarding palliative care across care settings.
  • Learners will self-report an increase in knowledge regarding policy and economic issues in palliative care.
  • Learners will describe advance care planning and goals of care at the end of life.

Seminar Information:

The cost for this seminar is $250.00 for members & $300.00 for non-members.
No late fee!
There will be a 40 seat limit.
Lunch Is provided with this seminar.
There are no refunds, however substitutions are welcome.

Upon completion of this course each attendee will be required to complete an evaluation and sign in sheet. Each participant will then receive a certificate of attendance.  Certificates will be distributed to attendees upon signing out of the seminar.
